European S2k guidelines on management of autoimmune blistering diseases in children and adolescents

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, EarlyView.
Autoimmune blistering disorders (AIBDs) in children are rare, challenging to diagnose and treat and often require immunosuppressants. Until now, no paediatric care guidelines existed. The EADV Task Force for AIBDs has developed the consensus‐based recommendations, enabling physicians to adopt a uniform, tailored treatment strategy to improve outcomes ...

Lyman-\alpha{} Emitters in the context of hierarchical galaxy formation: predictions for VLT/MUSE surveys

open access: yes, 2015
The VLT Multi Unit Spectroscopic Explorer (MUSE) integral-field spectrograph can detect Ly\alpha{} emitters (LAE) in the redshift range $2.8 \lesssim z \lesssim 6.7$ in a homogeneous way.

Swine Manure‐Derived Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens L.) Frass Enhances Chilli (Capsicum annuum L.) Vegetative Growth and Soil Epigeic Macro‐Arthropod Abundance

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The rapid expansion of swine production has increased environmental concerns related to nutrient pollution and improper manure management. Black soldier fly (BSF) larvae offer a promising bioconversion approach, producing frass that may serve as a sustainable organic fertiliser.

Mucin depleted foci, colonic preneoplastic lesions lacking Muc2, show up-regulation of Tlr2 but not bacterial infiltration.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Mucin depleted foci (MDF) are precancerous lesions of the colon in carcinogen-treated rodents and humans at high risk. Since MDF show signs of inflammation we hypothesized that the defective mucous production would expose them to the risk of being ...

A new endemic pearl cichlid of the ‘Geophagus’ brasiliensis (Cichliformes: Cichlidae) species group from the Piranga River, upper Doce River basin, southeastern Brazil

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract A new species of pearl cichlid of the ‘Geophagus’ brasiliensis species group, endemic to the Piranga River, a major tributary of the upper Doce River basin in the state of Minas Gerais, southeastern Brazil, is herein described. The new species is delimited using an integrative approach, with molecular‐based species delimitation methods coupled

Effects of gastric acid on surface roughness, microhardness, fracture strength, and color change of dental ceramics: A systematic review of in vitro studies

open access: yesJournal of Prosthodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose This systematic review evaluated the effects of simulated gastric acid (SGA) on surface and mechanical properties of dental ceramics to answer the research question: Does immersion in SGA alter the surface roughness, microhardness, fracture strength, and color of dental ceramics?

Investigation of 222‐nm ultraviolet C irradiation bactericidal effect on the surgical field in a rabbit model

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
In a rabbit surgical field model seeded with polymicrobial flora, a single dose of 222‐nm UV‐C (500 mJ/cm2) markedly reduced bacterial colonies, achieving a bactericidal effect comparable to 254‐nm UV‐C (200 mJ/cm2), while no UV‐C irradiation showed heavy growth. Wound healing did not differ among groups. Microbiota profiling detected SSI‐relevant taxa

Evaluation of Styrene-based Copolymers and Glutaraldehyde for Medium-density Fiberboard Production

open access: yesBioResources
The performance of medium density fiberboard (MDF) with styrene-based copolymers and glutaraldehyde was evaluated. Styrene/n-butyl acrylate (SBA), styrene maleic anhydride (SMA), and glutaraldehyde (GA) were tested at 1%, 2.5%, and 5% levels.
