APV1‐encoded p26 protein is a multifunctional VSR that suppresses RNA silencing and blocks the systemic spread of silencing signals. p26 interacts with host SGS3, a key component of the plant antiviral silencing pathway, and targets SGS3 for accelerated degradation via the ubiquitination pathway.
