Association of Glucose Variability in the First 72 Hours of ICU Care with ICU Mortality in Critically-III Patients

open access: yesJurnal Penyakit Dalam Indonesia, 2016
Introduction. Hyperglycemia during hospitalization is a risk factor that can be managed in order to reduce mortality. Inspite of hyperglycemia, glucose variability also brings negative outcome to cells.

An Effective Machine Learning Approach for Classifying Artefact-Free and Distorted Capnogram Segments Using Simple Time-Domain Features

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
Capnogram signal analysis has received considerable attention owing to its important applications in assessing cardiopulmonary functions. However, the automatic elimination of deformed parts of a capnogram waveform remains an open research problem ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Characterization of Paper Surfaces by Friction Profilometry

open access: yesBioResources, 2022
Friction profilometry is a powerful technique that is suitable for the surface characterization of paper products. In this technique, a stylus-type contact method that resembles papermaking processes is used for evaluating the quality attributes of ...

Entropy–Mean–Upper Partial Deviation–Absolute Deviation Portfolio Problem and Its Wasserstein Distributionally Robust Counterpart

open access: yesIEEE Access
This paper proposes an Entropy–Mean–Upper partial deviation–Absolute Deviation (EMUAD) portfolio problem, introducing entropy to reduce investment risk and enhance portfolio diversification while simultaneously considering metrics ...

A Multivariate Analysis Framework for Vehicle Detection From Loop Data Under Heterogeneous and Less Lane Disciplined Traffic

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Accurate vehicle detection in real-time is a challenging problem for engineers and researchers working in the field of transportation engineering all over the world. To detect the vehicle presence in the lane-based traffic, one of the widely used traffic

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Coexistence of absolute negative mobility and anomalous diffusion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Using extensive numerical studies we demonstrate that absolute negative mobility of a Brownian particle (i.e. the net motion into the direction opposite to a constant biasing force acting around zero bias) does coexist with anomalous diffusion.

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.
