Valores de referência e influência da idade no eritrograma de fêmeas bovinas da raça Aquitânica Reference values and age effect on the erythrogram of bovine females of the Aquitanian breed

The sensory penis: A comprehensive immunohistological and ontogenetic exploration of human penile innervation

open access: yesAndrology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Penile sexual sensation relies on intricate neural structures that remain incompletely characterized. Immunohistological insights into their development and organization can enhance understanding of penile neuroanatomy and function, while optimizing surgical outcomes.

Real‐World Performance of FIT Triage for Symptomatic Colonoscopy: Analysis of the UK National Endoscopy Database (NED)

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
National endoscopy data show that FIT‐based triage clearly outperforms symptom‐based referral for colorectal cancer risk stratification. FIT ≥ 10 identifies high‐risk symptomatic patients, while FIT < 10 confers very low cancer risk, supporting FIT as the primary tool for prioritising colonoscopy in symptomatic pathways.

Health status of BALB/c mice orally fed with Bifidobacterium Pseudocatenulatum G4. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Safety profiles of Bifidobacterium pseudocatenulatum G4 and commercial Bifidobacterium longum B536 were evaluated. Groups of BALB/c mice were orally administered sterile skim milk suspensions containing viable B. pseudocatenulatum G4 at 2 x 104, 1 x 108,

Iron overload in hereditary spherocytosis: Are genetic factors the cause?

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
Summary Non‐transfusional iron overload (IOL) in hereditary spherocytosis (HS) is poorly documented compared with other red blood cell disorders. We studied 13 HS adults with confirmed IOL to identify potential genetic factors. Using a next‐generation sequencing panel of 46 genes related to HS, anaemia and iron metabolism, we found no association ...

Corpuscular description of the speed of light in a homogeneous medium

open access: yes, 2009
We are used to describe the detection of light in terms of particles and its propagation from the source to the detection, by waves. For instance, the slowing down of light in a transparent medium is always explained within the electromagnetic wave ...

Across species: A comparative perspective on red cell homeostasis and its influence on our understanding of human physiology and disease

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
This review highlights how studies on animal red cells have enriched our understanding of the behaviour of those from humans. A comparative perspective has enhanced our knowledge of human red cell pathophysiology Summary This review emphasises how studies on animal red cells have enriched our understanding of the behaviour of those from humans.
