Analytical models for mean free path and resistivity of borophene for on-chip interconnects

open access: yesJournal of Science: Advanced Materials and Devices
Scaling copper interconnects below the 7-nm technology node results in severe resistivity increase due to enhanced electron scattering, necessitating alternative interconnect materials. This work proposes borophene nanoribbons (BNRs) and presents a novel

The air viscosity coefficient and other related values

open access: yesMokslas: Lietuvos Ateitis, 2020
Experimental measurements of the dynamic coefficient of air viscosity were done. Numerous other related values such as the kinematic coefficient of air viscosity, the mean free path and the mean thermal square velocity of air molecules were determined ...

Gamma Ray and FTIR Studies in Zinc Doped Lead Borate Glasses for Radiation Shielding Application [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2018
Gamma ray shielding properties of borate glass samples containing oxides of lead and zinc are prepared by melt and quench technique and evaluated theoretically using XCOM computer software for gamma ray shielding properties.

Electron mean free paths in the alkali metals

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 1992
Photoemission data in which the signal from the first atomic layer is well resolved from that of the bulk are used to determine accurately the kinetic-energy dependence of the inelastic-electron mean free path in the alkali metals. At the higher kinetic energies, the data are in very good agreement with the theory of Penn.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Technical research on vacuum distillation to purify magnesium to 99.99% purity

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2021
In this study, the distribution and evaporation principles of impurities in distilled magnesium metal were investigated using a low vacuum (8 × 10 ^4 Pa) distillation purification experiment and theoretical analysis.

YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

Non-resonant pitch-angle scattering, and parallel mean-free-path [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
A new, non-resonant pitch-angle scattering process has been found, which very efficiently scatters the cosmic ray particles through the zero pitch-angle cosine.

Suppression of lung adenocarcinoma migration through organelle alkalization by human lactoferrin – albumin fusion

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This paper reveals how human lactoferrin–albumin fusion (hLF‐HSA) potently suppresses lung adenocarcinoma cell migration. hLF‐HSA upregulates NHE7, leading to Golgi alkalization, disruption of the Golgi secretome, downregulation of MMP1, and reversal of EMT. These findings suggest a novel Golgi‐targeting strategy to suppress cancer cell migration.

Models of thermal conduction and non-local transport of relevance to space physics with insights from laser–plasma theory

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2023
Models of solar and space plasmas require an accurate model for thermal transport. The simplest such model is to assume that the fluid approach is valid and that local transport models can be used. These local transport coefficients are derived under the
