Meaning of the wave function

Physical Review A, 1993
So far, the wave function has been interpreted as a probability amplitude, which is given physical meaning by ensemble averages of a large number of identical systems at a given time. We give an alternative interpretation of the wave function for a single system by means of a measurement which lasts a long time.

Meaning of functions, functions without meaning

2022

Functions of Vanishing Mean Oscillation

Mathematische Nachrichten, 1987
Let \(Q_ 0\) represent the unit cube in \({\mathbb{R}}^ n\), let \[ \omega (f,\delta)=\sup_{| h| \leq \delta}\{ \sup_{x,x+h\in Q_ 0}| f(x+h)-f(x)| \} \] represent the essential modulus of continuity of f, and \[ \Omega (f,\delta)=\sup_{diam(Q_ 1\cup Q_ 2)0\), where \(Q_ 1\), \(Q_ 2\) are disjoint subcubes of \(Q_ 0\).

Context, Function, Meaning

2013
The sequence from palisaded settlement through enclosed with stone entrances, to enclosed with limited control of access, abandonment and brief reoccupation can be now outlined and given a provisional chronology based on radiocarbon dating, likely length of life of timbers, and the time required for gateways to collapse.

Meaning and Function

2021
The use of the word functional in the most diverse theories and approaches has contributed in no small measure to the confusion in linguistics today. This article does not claim to give an overview of the different directions of functionalism in linguistics.

Functions and Meaning

1956
In the preceding chapter I have treated words of a certain sort as names of particuler and universal events. But both words and sentences are not only names but bearers of meanings. An event as an unique, simple and undiluted event which can only be indicated cannot, in a sense, be known at all.

Human Dignity: Functions and Meanings

Global Jurist Topics, 2004
The concept of Human Dignity has become more and more prevalent in legal, moral and philosophical discourses. However, as much as linguistic functions of the concept have become widespread, its meanings have become ambiguous and blurred. This paper seeks to map and depict the main functions and meanings that the concept of human dignity encompass, and,

CESÀRO MEANS OF ADDITIVE FUNCTIONS

Analysis, 1986
For \(\alpha >0\) let \(L_{\alpha}\) be the set of all functions \(f: {\mathbb{N}}\to {\mathbb{C}}\) satisfying \(\limsup_{x\to \infty}(1/x)\sum_{n\leq x}| f(n)|^{\alpha}

ON MEANS OF ENTIRE FUNCTIONS

The Quarterly Journal of Mathematics, 1956
It is also known [1 ] that for a fixed 5, log Ma(r) is an increasing convex function of log r. For a fixed r, Ms(r) tends to M(r) as a tends to infinity. Here we deduce the following: THEOREM 1. For an entire function f(z) of finite order p log Ma(r) -log M(r) (O < a < oo). THEOREM 2. If 0
