Platelet kinetics in the pulmonary microcirculation in vivo assessed by intravital microscopy [PDF]
Growing evidence supports the substantial pathophysiological impact of platelets on the development of acute lung injury. Methods for studying these cellular mechanisms in vivo are not present yet.

Electrochemically Driven Dissipative Growth of Affinity Hydrogels for Bioresponsive Interfaces
Voltage pulses drive the growth and reinforcement of hydrogel films under dissipative conditions. This biocompatible strategy enables efficient integration of affinity ligands into the hydrogel matrix, enhancing the selective capture of growth factors and allowing precise temporal control over their release, making them well‐suited as adaptive ...

Mean Platelet Volume in Thrombocytopenic, Preterm Infants
We evaluated the use of mean platelet volume (MPV) as a reliable indicator of bacteremia in neonates. We first established normal MPV values in very low birth weight neonates (< 1 kg and ≥ 1 kg < 1.8 kg, respectively) in the first 47 days of life. We conclude that MPV is not a reliable predictor of sepsis.

An Ionic Gelation Powder for Ultrafast Hemostasis and Accelerated Wound Healing
An ultrafast ionic gelation‐activated hemostatic powder (AGCL) forms a hydrogel within ≈1 s upon contact with blood‐derived calcium ions. The AGCL powder enables rapid hemorrhage control, strong tissue adhesion, and enhanced healing. The powder's pre‐crosslinked polymer network ensures high blood uptake and stability, offering effective treatment for ...

Kinetics of mean platelet volume predicts mortality in patients with septic shock
Introduction Thrombocytopenia is well recognized as a poor prognosis sign associated with increased mortality and prolonged Intensive Care Unit (ICU) stay, particularly in septic patients.

Encoding Magnetic Anisotropies in Digital Light Processing 3D Printing
A hybrid magnetic device—combining a coaxial coil within a nested Halbach array—is presented, integrated into a DLP 3D printer to enable spatially resolved magnetic field control. This system enables complex, multimodal responses by programming liquid crystal elastomer resins for magnetic and thermal actuation, and by inducing electrically conductive ...

The Use of Platelet Count and Indices as Prognostic Factors for Mortality in Children with Sepsis [PDF]
Background: Sepsis is still one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity in children worldwide. Consumptive coagulopathy and suppression of thrombopoiesis in the bone marrow resulting from immune dysregulation are pathological mechanisms that ...
