Nanoindentation Criteria for Combinatorial Thin Film Libraries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thin‐film material libraries are compositional spreads used for screening composition‐structure‐property relationships. Nanoindentation is often used to characterize mechanical behavior across these systems, however variations in methodology are widespread.

Computing Expected Mean Squares

Biometrics, 1980
SUMMARY The evaluation of the expected mean squares arising from the analysis of unbalanced mixed ANOVA models has long been an analytically intractable problem. Irl this paper we present a theoretically and computationally simple technique for computation of the coefficients in the expected mean squares.

Mean-square coherent light

Optics Letters, 2008
Mean-square coherent light is defined as light that is able to interfere with fringes of unit visibility when its electromagnetic field is multiplied by appropriate nonsingular deterministic Jones matrices. It includes light that satisfies the factorization condition at order one and partially polarized light that leads to interference fringes of unit ...

Mean square voltmeter

Journal of Scientific Instruments, 1962
A circuit for the measurement of mean square voltages is described in which a temperature limited diode is held at a constant total emission by means of an a.c. servo amplifier using transistors. The response time, determined by the heat inertia of the diode filament and the associated circuitry, is about three seconds, and the stability is good.

Mean-Square Stability

2013
One of the features that distinguish MJLS from linear systems is the fact that stability (instability) for each mode of operation does not guarantee the stability (instability) of the system as a whole. This chapter provides a broad account on mean-square stability (MSS) for continuous-time MJLS.

Expected Mean Squares

The American Statistician, 1982
An interactive program for calculating the expected mean squares for balanced designs has been developed for use on desktop and minicomputers, where it would be most convenient for the typical applications of the consulting statistician. The theoretical expected mean squares are calculated from the ANOVA model; hence, data are not utilized.

Mean-Square Estimation

1990
In the decision-theoritic literatur, there are few if any results of the generality required for a substantial portion of the information gathering problems described in the previous two chapters. However, there are well-known results for minimum mean-square error parameter estimation (MMSE) for known linear systems corrupted by Gaussian noise.

Pooling Mean Squares

Journal of the American Statistical Association, 1971
Abstract An experimenter has a sample for estimating the variance σ3 2. Suppose he has two other independent samples which are suspected to have come from the same population with variance σ3 2. Whether to pool the three samples to estimate σ3 2 depends on the outcome of two preliminary tests.

Mean square convergence analysis for kernel least mean square algorithm

Signal Processing, 2012
In this paper, we study the mean square convergence of the kernel least mean square (KLMS). The fundamental energy conservation relation has been established in feature space. Starting from the energy conservation relation, we carry out the mean square convergence analysis and obtain several important theoretical results, including an upper bound on ...
