Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Robust Sum MSE Optimization for Downlink Multiuser MIMO Systems with Arbitrary Power Constraint: Generalized Duality Approach

open access: yes, 2012
This paper considers linear minimum meansquare- error (MMSE) transceiver design problems for downlink multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems where imperfect channel state information is available at the base station (BS) and mobile ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Design of Sparse FIR Decision Feedback Equalizers in MIMO Systems Using Hybrid l1/l2 Norm Minimization and the OMP Algorithm

open access: yesSensors, 2018
In this paper, a novel scheme using hybrid l1/l2 norm minimization and the orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) algorithm is proposed to design the sparse finite impulse response (FIR) decision feedback equalizers (DFE) in multiple input multiple output ...

Hybrid beamforming for single carrier mmWave MIMO systems

open access: yes, 2019
Hybrid analog and digital beamforming (HBF) has been recognized as an attractive technique offering a tradeoff between hardware implementation limitation and system performance for future broadband millimeter wave (mmWave) communications.

MMSE-based beamforming techniques for relay broadcast channels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We propose minimum mean square error (MMSE) based beamforming techniques for a multiantenna relay network, where a base station (BS) equipped with multiple antennas communicates with a number of single antenna users through a multiantenna relay. We ...

Correlated bandits or: How to minimize mean-squared error online

open access: yes, 2019
While the objective in traditional multi-armed bandit problems is to find the arm with the highest mean, in many settings, finding an arm that best captures information about other arms is of interest. This objective, however, requires learning the underlying correlation structure and not just the means of the arms.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Reconfiguration of Optical-NFV Network Architectures Based on Cloud Resource Allocation and QoS Degradation Cost-Aware Prediction Techniques

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
The high time required for the deployment of cloud resources in Network Function Virtualization network architectures has led to the proposal and investigation of algorithms for predicting traffic or the necessary processing and memory resources. However,

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.
