Multidimensional Optimal Signal Constellation Sets and Symbol Mappings for Block-Interleaved Coded-Modulation Enabling Ultrahigh-Speed Optical Transport

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2014
In this paper, we introduce the optimal signal constellation design (OSCD) in both 2-D and multidimensional cases, which is obtained by minimization of mean square error of optimal source distribution.

Non-Regenerative Multicarrier MIMO Relay Communications Based on Minimization of Mean-Squared Error [PDF]

open access: yes2009 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2009
In this paper we propose non-regenerative multi-carrier multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) relay techniques that minimize the mean-squared error (MSE) of the signal wave-form estimation. We establish the closed-form optimal precoding matrices at the source and relay nodes in the absence of the direct source-destination link.

Value of MRI Outcomes for Preventive and Early‐Stage Trials in Spinocerebellar Ataxias 1 and 3

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the value of MRI outcomes as endpoints for preventive and early‐stage trials of two polyglutamine spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs). Methods A cohort of 100 participants (23 SCA1, 63 SCA3, median Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) score = 5, 42% preataxic, and 14 gene‐negative controls) was scanned at 3T up ...

Through-the-Wall Image Reconstruction via Reweighted Total Variation and Prior Information in Radio Tomographic Imaging

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
This paper focuses on the application of radio tomographic imaging in through-the-wall image reconstruction. By using the simple wireless communication devices, e.g., Wi-Fi cards, the whole building layout can be reconstructed with only the received ...

Position control using genetic algorithms with minimization of error entropy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This work proposes the synthesis of controllers applying a Genetic Algorithm, whose objective function is to minimize the entropy of the error. Recent studies demonstrate that methods used in systems that use the mean square error for error estimation do

Multidimensional Profiling of MRI‐Negative Temporal Lobe Epilepsy Uncovers Distinct Phenotypes

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Although hippocampal sclerosis (TLE‐HS) represents the most frequent cause of temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE), up to 30% of patients show no lesion on visual MRI inspection (TLE‐MRIneg). These cases pose diagnostic and therapeutic challenges and are underrepresented in surgical series.

Optimal designs minimizing mean squared error for polynomial regression

open access: yesJournal of the Japan Statistical Society, Japanese Issue, 1987
The paper considers the optimal design which minimizes the integrated mean squared error for polynomial regression when the model may not be correctly specified. We obtain a necessary condition for optimality and derive several optimal designs.

Multiple Sclerosis Relapse Activity After Ozanimod Discontinuation in DAYBREAK Trial Participants

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Multiple Sclerosis Relapse Activity After Ozanimod Discontinuation in DAYBREAK Trial Participants. ABSTRACT Objective Return of disease activity is expected when patients discontinue disease‐modifying therapy (DMT) for multiple sclerosis (MS). Some MS DMTs are associated with higher‐than‐expected disease activity (rebound) after discontinuation.

Equivalence Between Frequency Domain Blind Source Separation and Frequency Domain Adaptive Beamforming [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Frequency domain Blind Source Separation (BSS) is shown to be equivalent to two sets of frequency domain adaptive microphone arrays, i.e., Adaptive Beamformers (ABFs).

A Squared-Chebyshev wavelet thresholding based 1D signal compression

open access: yesDefence Technology, 2019
In this paper a square wavelet thresholding method is proposed and evaluated as compared to the other classical wavelet thresholding methods (like soft and hard).
