Techno-economic comparison of operational aspects for direct drive and gearbox-driven wind turbines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The majority of wind turbines currently in operation have the conventional Danish concept design-that is, the three-bladed rotor of such turbines is indirectly coupled with an electrical generator via a gearbox.

Availability analysis of resilient geometric routing on Internet topology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Scalable routing schemes for large-scale networks, especially future Internet, are required. Geometric routing scheme is a promising candidate to solve the scalability issue of routing tables in conventional IP routing based on longest prefix matching ...

Reduce mean time to repair of mining equipment with lean six sigma

open access: yesOperations Excellence Journal of Applied Industrial Engineering
As the size and complexity of mining equipment grow, the impact of equipment failure becomes increasingly critical, often leading to costly downtime and production delays.

Digital‐Twin‐Enabled, Time‐Aware Anomaly Detection for Industrial Cyber‐Physical Systems

open access: yesDigital Twins and Applications, Volume 3, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
The graphical abstract (Graphical Abstract figure) summarises the proposed pipeline: multivariate ICS data streams are windowed and normalised, fed into a temporal LSTM–DNN encoder and per‐sensor operating‐envelope learner, combined via calibrated fusion and finally surfaced through an operator‐facing digital twin that provides event timelines, top ...

Identification of Critical Machine in Textile Industry Using Reliability‐Centred Maintenance and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis—A Case Study of Bahir Dar Textile's Share Company

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
The study aims to mitigate these risks through the implementation of a structured RCM policy. The findings indicate that the machines in the spinning section are the most critical in terms of their failure impact. Implementing the RCM methodology demonstrates significant economic benefits by reducing risk through a targeted FMEA approach.

Reliability modelling of uninterruptible power supply using probability tree method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The unreliability of public power lines have led to the need of uninterruptible power supply (UPS). Utility power failures will cause unacceptably high risk to the profitability, existence and growth of the vital aspect of business that depends heavily ...

Real Availability Index for Energy Hubs: A Novel Monte Carlo–Markov Hybrid Approach for Comprehensive Reliability and Economic Analysis Incorporating Dynamic Demand Profiles in High‐Rise Residential Buildings

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energy Research, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
This paper conducted a unique availability and economic analysis of two energy hubs (EHs) with different capacities (2 MW and 900 kW). The proposed EH supplies the electricity and heat requirements of a high‐rise residential complex in Tehran. A new index called real availability was introduced and implemented, integrating hourly demand profiles and ...

A Safety‐Aware Framework for Offshore Wind Turbine Maintenance

open access: yesWind Energy, Volume 28, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT In this paper, we suggest a framework for determining the best operation and maintenance strategies for offshore wind turbines. The framework takes into account both quantitative and qualitative data gathered from the wind turbines. The proposed framework consists of a simulation‐optimization approach for designing, planning, and scheduling ...
