Comparison of Mean Platelet Volume Values between Patients with Nasal Polyp and Healthy Individuals

open access: yesTurkish Archives of Otorhinolaryngology, 2013
Objective:Nasal Polyp (NP) and Allergic Rhinitis (AR) are frequently seen in common. It has been reported that there is an increase in the risk of atherosclerosis in allergic patients.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

On the comparison of Cauchy mean values

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2002
Suppose that and exist, with , on . Then there is (moreover if ) such that where denotes the divided difference of at the points . This is the Cauchy Mean Value Theorem for divided differences (see e.g. [4]).

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Comparison of the empirical variances and mean values of normally distributed populations of nuclear counts [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Technology and Radiation Protection, 2014
This paper discusses the possibility of applying the F-test and double t-test in problems related to the identification of number of radioactive isotopes in a contaminated area by using only counters for radiation detection.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

The local limit theorem of Delange in the Knopfmacher's semigroup

open access: yesLietuvos Matematikos Rinkinys, 2004
An asymptotic formula of the mean value of multiplicative arithmetic function from the class Ma(G)  with asymptotical expansion of the main term is obtained. In the present paper the local limit theorem of the H. Delange type is proved.
