Melanin content directly controls fungal spore mechanical properties, with pigmented spores achieving rupture forces two orders of magnitude higher than hyaline spores. Environmental stress drives this quantity‐quality tradeoff; stressed species invest energy in melanin‐reinforced, mechanically superior thick‐walled, super‐hydrophobic spores, while ...

This study presents the first demonstration of stable sub‐50‐micron single‐cell GPM vesicles fabricated through the intrinsic self‐assembly of an amphiphilic copolymer. Hierarchical assembly of cell containing GPM vesicles into microspheres enable tunable, sustained cell delivery with immune protection.

Significance of cutoff in meandering river dynamics [PDF]
The occurrence of cutoff events, although sporadic, is a key component in the complex dynamics of meandering rivers. In the present work, we show that cutoff has a twofold role: (1) It removes older meanders, limiting the planform geometrical complexity (

Conceptual illustration of a Global Ecosystem Methane Observing System (GEM‐OS) integrating satellites, aircraft, atmospheric networks, and ecosystem measurements to quantify methane emissions from anthropogenic and natural sources. The multi‐scale observing framework improves source attribution, reduces uncertainty in regional methane budgets, and ...

Experimental meandering river with chute cutoffs [PDF]
Braided rivers are relatively simple to produce in the laboratory, whereas dynamic meandering rivers have not been sustained beyond initial bend formation. Meandering is theoretically explained by bend instability growing from planimetric perturbation,
