How Is Purpose in Life Experienced When the Road Ahead Is Shorter than the Road Behind? A Qualitative Study with Older Adults in Spain

open access: yesMedical Sciences Forum
Purpose in life is a central component of healthy ageing and psychological well-being, yet its meaning in later life has often been operationalised through standardized measures rather than being grounded in older adults’ lived experience.

Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...

Demographic Variation in Sense of Purpose/Meaning in Life Across 22 Countries: A Cross-National Analysis

open access: yes
Prior research documents strong associations between an increased sense of purpose/meaning in life with improved health and well-being outcomes. However, less is known about how levels of purpose/meaning in life differ across cultures and across ...

Exploring Frankl’s meaning, purpose and value of life in Malaysian university students

open access: yes, 2019
This study has been using the Logotherapy approach, a therapy introduced by Viktor Frankl that emphasizes the meaning, purpose and value of life. Frankl’s concept of purpose in life is based on a religious existential foundation which postulated that

Conserved binding mode but diverse interfaces of MreC‐PBP2 interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of abMreC reveals a conserved two β‐barrel architecture and provides structural insights into its role within the bacterial elongasome. The abMreC–abPBP2 complex model identifies the molecular basis of MreC‐mediated PBP2 recognition, contributing to the regulation of peptidoglycan synthesis.

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.

Meaning, purpose, and narrative [PDF]

open access: yes
According to many philosophers, “the meaning of life” refers to our cosmic purpose, the activity that we were created by God or a purposive universe to perform. If there is no God or teleology, there is no such thing as the meaning of life. But this need

Analyzing the View of Retirees About the Meanings, Meaningful Indicators and Demeaning of Life [PDF]

open access: yesمسائل اجتماعی ایران
The question of the meaning and purpose of life is one of the most worrying issues of the present age. So that many theorists believe that finding the meaning of life is one of the most important needs of humans today.

Structure‐forward targeting of claudins with synthetic binders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Claudins form the paracellular barriers between epithelial and endothelial tissues at tight junctions and are targets for molecular binders with the goal of modulating barrier permeability. Claudin‐binding molecules are relevant in drug delivery or in altering claudin interactions with disease‐causing proteins.

Discerning protein pools by selective staining with self‐labeling tags

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cell surface proteins have an intra‐ and extracellular pool. Combining genetic fusion to self‐labeling tags that can be addressed with small molecule fluorophores allows separating these pools. We highlight recent developments and techniques for state‐of‐the‐art interrogation of cell surface proteins in the complex tissue setting.
