Rethinking Ethical Leadership in Kenya: Adopting A New Paradigm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Developing countries appear to many on the outside to be besieged by pervasive and endemic corruption. Although present in most governing systems globally, least developed countries especially struggle with a “business as usual, quid-pro-quo ...

Integrating Vibrio natriegens for Photon Manipulation in Living Lighting Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Rationalization of genetic and material engineering tools has enabled the engineering of fluorescent Vibrio natriegens (V. natriegens) to fabricate straightforward, highly emissive and stable V. natriegens‐silicones color filters for the first red‐emitting bacteria‐hybrid light‐emitting diodes. This pinpoints V. natriegens as a high‐performance protein

Аnti-corruption mechanism and means of detinization in the social sphere

open access: yesJournal of Economics and International Relations, 2021
The most effective means of overcoming corruption and the shadow economy, especially in the social sphere and public services, is to create effective and legitimate "rules of the game" (institutional framework) that would "naturally" legalize shadow (including corruption) funds circulating in the national socio-economic system.

Scalable Task Planning via Large Language Models and Structured World Representations

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work efficiently combines graph‐based world representations with the commonsense knowledge in Large Language Models to enhance planning techniques for the large‐scale environments that modern robots will need to face. Planning methods often struggle with computational intractability when solving task‐level problems in large‐scale environments ...

Termination of contractor due to the corruption, unlawful or illegal activities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A construction contract can be brought to an end in a various ways either by performance, agreement, frustration or by breach. Normally, termination of contract is a remedy for discharged of contract or put the contract to an end by breach.

Improving the Robustness of Visual Teach‐and‐Repeat Navigation Using Drift Error Correction and Event‐Based Vision for Low‐Light Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Visual teach‐and‐repeat (VTR) navigation allows robots to learn and follow routes without building a full metric map. We show that navigation accuracy for VTR can be improved by integrating a topological map with error‐drift correction based on stereo vision.

TreeSpider: In‐Canopy Exploration With Tether‐Based Aerial Modular Arms

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A tethered drone with perching arms and a 360° ring enables unprecedented maneuverability within dense forest canopies. By dynamically adjusting tether length and decoupling pitch from the frame, it navigates between branches, senses multiple trees, and interacts physically with foliage.

Sleep Alters the Velocity of Physiological Brain Pulsations in Humans

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sleep alters I/CSF oscillatory flow, driven by increased respiratory (29%) and vasomotor pulsation (21%) velocities, while cardiovascular pulsations decreased by (22%). Velocity is quantified using optical flow analysis of MREG data. Spectral power increases alongside these pulsations (spatial correlation, r = 0.35 and r = 0.39, respectively ...
