On the equality of Bajraktarevi\'c means to quasi-arithmetic means [PDF]
This paper offers a solution of the functional equation $$ \big(tf(x)+(1-t)f(y)\big)\varphi(tx+(1-t)y)=tf(x)\varphi(x)+(1-t)f(y)\varphi(y) \qquad(x,y\in I), $$ where $t\in\,]0,1[\,$ is a fixed number, $\varphi:I\to\mathbb{R}$ is strictly monotone ...

Strategy is Structure. A Systems Theory-Based Definition of Strategy
Hardly any other management concept sounds as hackneyed as strategy, and at the same time hardly any other concept in organizational science is as vaguely defined. As a means of escaping the conceptual tangle, this article suggests a systems theory-based

Sickle Cell Disease Is an Inherent Risk for Asthma in a Sibling Comparison Study
ABSTRACT Introduction Sickle cell disease (SCD) and asthma share a complex relationship. Although estimates vary, asthma prevalence in children with SCD is believed to be comparable to or higher than the general population. Determining whether SCD confers an increased risk for asthma remains challenging due to overlapping symptoms and the ...

We investigate the representation of homogeneous, symmetric means in the form M(x,y)=\frac{x-y}{2f((x-y)/(x+y))}. This allows for a new approach to comparing means. As an example, we provide optimal estimate of the form (1-\mu)min(x,y)+ \mu max(x,y)

On the Beckenbach–Gini–Lehmer Means and Means Mappings
Beckenbacg–Gini–Lehmer type means and mean-type mappings generated by functions of several variables, for which the arithmetic mean is invariant, are introduced.

MODERN DESIGN TOOLS FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF GRAPHIC DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
A scheme for considering design as a complex system with appropriate linguistics and a significant replenishment of the design system with new categories useful for further theoretical research and practical use is developed.

ABSTRACT We sought to identify potential early risk biomarkers for lung disease in children post‐allogeneic HCT. Patients with pulmonary function tests 3 months post‐transplant and plasma samples between days 7 and 14 post‐HCT were included. Six of 27 subjects enrolled had reduced forced expiratory volume 1 (FEV1) z scores.

Variations on a theorem of Davenport concerning abundant numbers [PDF]
Let \sigma(n) = \sum_{d \mid n}d be the usual sum-of-divisors function. In 1933, Davenport showed that that n/\sigma(n) possesses a continuous distribution function. In other words, the limit D(u):= \lim_{x\to\infty} \frac{1}{x}\sum_{n \leq x,~n/\sigma(n)

ABSTRACT The pediatric hematology‐oncology fellowship training curriculum has not substantially changed since its inception. The first year of training is clinically focused, and the second and third years are devoted to scholarship. However, this current structure leaves many fellows less competitive in the current job market, resulting in ...

Possibilities of Detecting Diesel Leaking Into Engine Oil with Fuel Sniffer
The paper presents the possibilities of detecting diesel fuel without rapeseed methyl ester (RME) in the concentration range of 0–9.54 wt% leaking into engine oil of SAE 15W – 40 viscosity specifications using Spectro FDM Q600 – Fuel Sniffer. The results
