Is there an association between a behavioral measure of working memory and the measures of P300

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Otolaryngology
Background Recently, the P300 has been extensively explored to assess cognitive function and contextual knowledge in humans. The study's main aim is to determine whether the scores obtained in a behavioral test for Working Memory (WM), the Reading Span ...

LibQual+ 2005 Survey: University of North Texas Libraries

open access: yes, 2005
This report contains information from the 2005 administration of the LibQUAL+™ protocol at University of North Texas Libraries. Based on the SERVQUAL model, the purpose of the LibQUAL+® survey is to provide libraries with an objective tool to measure ...

A mixed methods study on the impact of COVID-19 in older Australians during second lockdowns

open access: yes, 2021
Introduction: The impact of extensive second lockdown measures on older adults’ quality of life (QoL) remains unknown. Our study aimed to compare the QoL of older Australians in Victoria who experienced a second lockdown with the QoL of older Australians

Association between performance measures and glycemic control among patients with diabetes in a community-wide primary care cohort [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Background: Performance measures are used for assessing quality of care. Higher performance shown by these measures is expected to reflect better care, but little is known whether they predict better patient outcomes.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Improving a Fundamental Measure of Lexical Association

open access: yes, 2017
Pointwise mutual information (PMI), a simple measure of lexical association, is part of several algorithms used as models of lexical semantic memory. Typically, it is used as a component of more complex distributional models rather than in isolation.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Does cognitive impairment impact adherence? A systematic review and meta-analysis of the association between cognitive impairment and medication non-adherence in stroke.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
BackgroundWhile medication adherence is essential for the secondary prevention of stroke, it is often sub-optimal, and can be compromised by cognitive impairment.

A new information theoretical measure of global and local spatial association

open access: yes
In this paper a new measure of spatial association, the S statistics, is developed. The proposed measure is based on information theory by defining a spatially weighted information measure (entropy measure) that takes the spatial configuration into ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
