Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Observing the Epoch of Reionization with the Cosmic Microwave Background

open access: yes, 2015
We review the observable consequences of the epoch of reionization (EoR) on the cosmic microwave background (CMB), and the resulting constraints on the EoR.

Optimization of Depth Profiling and Measurement of Sputtered Depth

open access: yesHyomen Kagaku, 2003
Standardization of depth profiling using XPS, AES, and SIMS has been discussed and developed by ISO/TC 201/SC 4. So far this committee published one standard and one technical report, and the latter is a generally informative summary of depth profiling and the former is a standard for the optimization of ion sputtering.

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Overview of molecular signatures of senescence and associated resources: pros and cons

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cells can enter a stress response state termed cellular senescence that is involved in various diseases and aging. Detecting these cells is challenging due to the lack of universal biomarkers. This review presents the current state of senescence identification, from biomarkers to molecular signatures, compares tools and approaches, and highlights ...

Evaluation of Modulus of Elasticity of Laminated Strand Lumber by Non-Destructive Evaluation Technique

open access: yesBioResources, 2015
Non-destructive evaluation (NDE) techniques have been shown to be effective for evaluating mechanical properties of wood-based materials. In this study, transverse vibration of a beam under the two ends free boundary condition (FBV) was employed to ...

Can Non-Gaussian Cosmological Models Explain the WMAP's High Optical Depth for Reionization?

open access: yes, 2003
The first-year Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe data suggest a high optical depth for Thomson scattering of 0.17 +/- 0.04, implying that the universe was reionized at an early epoch, z ~ 20.
