A Target-Based Self-Calibration Method for Terrestrial Laser Scanners and its Robust Solution

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing, 2021
Fundamental systematic errors in point cloud data are inevitable due to a variety of factors, ranging from the external environment during scanning or observation by a terrestrial laser scanner (TLS) to the assembly of the instrument.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Reducing the amount of digital data of measuring video information in computerized information and measuring systems

open access: yesТехнічна інженерія, 2022
The article discusses the compression of digital data of measuring video information. Such compression is an integral part of the data conversion process in computerized information and measurement systems designed to measure linear and angular ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Errors based on units of measure [PDF]

open access: yesThe Lancet, 2004
My narrative deals with an error avoided (which is no less instructive than an error made) that proves that physicians and nurses should be familiar with units of measure. The grandmother of a student nurse of mine was under calcium supplementation and discontinuous vitamin D3 therapy for a moderate, asymptomatic hypocalcaemia.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Concept and architecture of a new apparatus for cylindrical form measurement with a nanometric level of accuracy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In relation to the industrial need and to the progress of technology, Laboratoire National de M´etrologie et d’Essais (LNE) would like to improve the measurement of its primary pressure standards, spherical and flick standards.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

A note on estimation of log-linear model with measurement errors and without extra informations.

open access: yes, 2011
In the analysis of measurement error models, the naive estimators arc inconsistent and biased. For consistent estimation, one usually needs extra information such as additional observed variables or known parameters.
