A novel quantitative measure of redundancy for kinematically redundant manipulators
Proceedings 2001 ICRA. IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (Cat. No.01CH37164), 2002In this paper, a novel quantitative measure of redundancy, called refined redundancy index (RRI), which is measured in the joint-rate level, is proposed. Based on the concept that a larger solution space of the inverse kinematics problem represents larger redundancy, the RRI is defined as the normalized magnitude of the solution spaces.

Strategic placements of PMUs for power network observability considering redundancy measurement
Measurement, 2019This paper proposes a mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) formulation with binary-valued variables for the optimal installation of the phasor measurement units (PMUs) in a power network.

Measures of Structural Redundancy in Reinforced Concrete Buildings. I: Redundancy Indices
Journal of Structural Engineering, 2004A method based on nonlinear pushover analysis is proposed to quantify the deterministic and probabilistic effects of redundancy on the strength of structural systems. Two indices, the redundancy strength index and the redundancy variation index, are introduced to measure these effects.

ETA-rPPGNet: Effective Time-Domain Attention Network for Remote Heart Rate Measurement
IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2021Remote photoplethysmography (rPPG) technology is widely used to measure heart rate (HR) from facial video. However, the accuracy of rPPG signal extraction is affected by the slow content changes in long-range facial videos, and the extraction process is ...

The effect of redundancy on measurement
Proceedings. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory (IEEE Cat. No.01CH37252), 2001Summary: This correspondence demonstrates that increasing the number of measurements made on a system beyond the minimum (i.e., the number of degrees of freedom in the system) can reduce the effect of measurement errors. The correspondence shows that for three broad classes of measurement problems, as the measurement redundancy increases, the residual ...

Measuring internal forces of redundant structures
Experimental Mechanics, 1985Certain guidelines were formulated for conducting mechanical and electronic design, calibration and installation of steel or aluminum transducers, which may be utilized to monitor internal forces in selected elements of a redundant structure, directly and independently, without a need for analysis.

Measuring redundancy level on the web
Proceedings of the 7th Asian Internet Engineering Conference, 2011This paper tries to estimate redundancy level on the Web by employing information collected from existent search engines. To make measurements feasible, a representative set of Internet sites was collected using a random sampling of the Internet catalogs DMOZ and Delicious.

Synergy, redundancy, and multivariate information measures: an experimentalist’s perspective
Journal of Computational Neuroscience, 2013Information theory has long been used to quantify interactions between two variables. With the rise of complex systems research, multivariate information measures have been increasingly used to investigate interactions between groups of three or more variables, often with an emphasis on so called synergistic and redundant interactions.
