An attribute redundancy measure for clustering
1998Several information theory based measures have been used in machine learning. Using the definition of the Kullback-Leibler entropy, this paper presents a new measure for clustering objects — the attribute redundancy measure. First, an introduction to clustering is made, with its interpretation from the machine learning point of view and a ...

Measurement of redundancy in species collections
Vegetatio, 1975The present paper describea a method, based on the covariance, which can partition the total variation in a species collection into two independent components. One of the components is specific to individual species, while the other is common between species.

Structural Sensitivity as a Measure of Redundancy
Journal of Structural Engineering, 1997The conventional definition of redundancy is applicable to skeletal structural systems only, whereas the concept of redundancy has never been discussed in the context of a continuum. Generally, structures in civil engineering constitute a combination of both skeletal and continuum segments.

Improved antenna range characterisation using redundant measurements
2015 International Conference on Electromagnetics in Advanced Applications (ICEAA), 2015The indoor antenna range at Stellenbosch University was substantially modernised during a recent upgrade. Now, this antenna range contains five automated motion stages, plus one manual stage, that facilitate redundant planar and spherical near-field measurements using an integrated system.

Radio interferometric tracking using redundant phase measurements
2015 IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (I2MTC) Proceedings, 2015A new sensor fusion is proposed for radio-interferometric tracking applications. The proposed solution utilizes fixed infrastructure nodes equipped with simple radio transceivers, generating interferometric signals, which allows the tracking of moving objects equipped with similar radios.

Data redundancy in information and measurement systems
Energy Safety and Energy Economy, 2022Data redundancy is a common approach to improve reliability of information and measurement systems. Design of information and measurement systems is an important step when the proper effect of data redundancy on accuracy of measurements needs to be established.

Redundant Measurements in Microwave Research and Development
IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 1970Capability and accuracy of microwave measuring methods and instruments can be substantially improved by the use of general-purpose digital computers. One of the fruitful applications is concerned with redundant measurements and their evaluation. In a redundant measurement more data are measured than would be necessary for a singular evaluation and the ...

Reliability Assessment Measurement for Redundant Software Systems
1991It is important to make a software system more reliable. We discuss reliability assessment for redundant software systems developed by multiversion programming, i.e., N-version programming and recovery blocks systems, during the operation phase. In this paper, the reliability assessment measures such as software reliability function, hazard rate ...

Redundancy and diversity measure inspired biometrics fusion
2010 IEEE Computer Society Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition - Workshops, 2010In many identification problems, finding a duplicate using biometrics is very challenging task because of the size of the database and the errors related to the core biometrics engine. Fusion of different modes of biometric system can lead to improved recognition accuracy.

Measurements of Redundant Source-Routing
2002Abstract—The best-effort delivery behavior is nowadays the only transmission policy in Internet. Some authors have pro- posed solutions based on packet replication on different paths to reduce drop probability. This solution partially solves the prob- lem and assures requirements of soft Quality of Service (QoS).
