"Open Innovation" and "Triple Helix" Models of Innovation: Can Synergy in Innovation Systems Be Measured? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The model of "Open Innovations" (OI) can be compared with the "Triple Helix of University-Industry-Government Relations" (TH) as attempts to find surplus value in bringing industrial innovation closer to public R&D.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Adaptive Fault Detection exploiting Redundancy with Uncertainties in Space and Time

open access: yes, 2019
The Internet of Things (IoT) connects millions of devices of different cyber-physical systems (CPSs) providing the CPSs additional (implicit) redundancy during runtime.

Modeling Urban Growth and Form with Spatial Entropy

open access: yes, 2020
Entropy is one of physical bases for fractal dimension definition, and the generalized fractal dimension was defined by Renyi entropy. Using fractal dimension, we can describe urban growth and form and characterize spatial complexity. A number of fractal

Phase retrieval from power spectra of masked signals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In diffraction imaging, one is tasked with reconstructing a signal from its power spectrum. To resolve the ambiguity in this inverse problem, one might invoke prior knowledge about the signal, but phase retrieval algorithms in this vein have found ...

More Accurate Pose Initialization with Redundant Measurements [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 14th International Joint Conference on Computer Vision, Imaging and Computer Graphics Theory and Applications, 2019
The problem described in this paper concerns the problem of initial pose estimation of a non-cooperative target for space applications. We propose to use a Photonic Mixer Device (PMD) sensor in a close range for the visual navigation in order to estimate position and attitude of the space object.

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Quantifying the value of redundant measurements at GCOS Reference Upper-Air Network sites [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques, 2014
The potential for measurement redundancy to reduce uncertainty in atmospheric variables has not been investigated comprehensively for climate observations.
