How sustainable is your business model? A multidimensional framework and empirically validated measurement scale

open access: yesEconomics and Environment
The study develops a multi-dimensional framework for sustainable business models (SBM) and develops an empirically validated measurement scale. A systematic literature review revealed the lack of a universally accepted SBM concept, with fundamental ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Multiphysics study on phase separation and thermal aggregation effects in the melt pool of the reactor lower head under severe accidents

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Nuclear Reactor Design and Technology
In the progression of severe accidents in light water reactors, the retention of core melt in the reactor pressure vessel (RPV) lower head, known as In-Vessel Retention (IVR), constitutes a core strategy for ensuring nuclear power plant safety and ...

Development of pastoral administrative leadership scale based on the theories of educational leadership

open access: yesCogent Business & Management, 2019
With increased interest in the concept of leadership, there is a need to examine its various types in terms of scale, necessity, as well as importance.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Validation of the Measurement Model of the Grief Support Healthcare Scale Among the Intensive Care Unit Nurses in Malaysia

open access: yes, 2022
Aim: This study aimed to establish the validity and reliability of the measurement model of the Grief Support Healthcare Scale sub-constructs among the intensive care unit (ICU) nurses. Method: This methodological study in January 2015 uses the TRIPOD

Scale matters: a survey of the concepts of scale used in spatial disciplines

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Remote Sensing, 2019
Scale is a critical factor when studying patterns and the processes that cause them. A variety of approaches have been used to define the concept of scale but confusion and ambiguities remain regarding scale types and their definitions. The objectives of

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.
