A probabilistic uncertainty evaluation method for turbomachinery probe measurements [PDF]
The paper presents a probabilistic uncertainty evaluation method described in the Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM) [1] and its application to the field of Turbomachinery probe measurement techniques.

Impact of Measurement Uncertainty on Building Modeling and Retrofitting Decisions
Retrofitting buildings is essential for improving the existing global building stock. Innovations in wireless sensor networks have provided new means for scalable and potentially low-cost solutions for evaluating optimal retrofit measures in a building ...

Pruning and measures of uncertainty [PDF]
We introduce a new property, pruning, for measures of uncertainty and investigate its consequences. In particular, we derive a new characterization of the additive, subadditive and symmetric entropies without assuming expansibility. Pruning also provides a new motivation for Hartley's entropy.

Stress and force measurement uncertainties in 3D granular materials [PDF]
We have developed and employed a 3D particle stress tensor and contact force inference technique that employs synchrotron X-ray tomography and diffraction with an optimization algorithm. We have used this technique to study stress and force heterogeneity,

Digital representation of measurement uncertainty
Successful digital transformation of measurement quality infrastructures must capture and share information about the metrological traceability of measurement results. So appropriate representations of measurement uncertainty, which is the cornerstone of

Assessment of drag measurement techniques in a shock tunnel.
Three force measurement techniques in a shock tunnel, the free-flight, movable-support force balance, and stress-wave force balance techniques were employed, and each technique's characteristics were assessed.

Leaf water potential of field crops estimated using NDVI in ground-based remote sensing—opportunities to increase prediction precision [PDF]
Remote-sensing using normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) has the potential of rapidly detecting the effect of water stress on field crops. However, this detection has typically been accomplished only after the stress effect led to significant ...

Measurement uncertainty relations [PDF]
Measurement uncertainty relations are quantitative bounds on the errors in an approximate joint measurement of two observables. They can be seen as a generalization of the error/disturbance tradeoff first discussed heuristically by Heisenberg. Here we prove such relations for the case of two canonically conjugate observables like position and momentum,
