Explaining Cross-National Variations in the Prevalence and Character of Undeclared Employment in the European Union [PDF]
The aim of this article is to evaluate the competing theories that variously explain the greater prevalence of undeclared employment in some countries either as: a legacy of under-development; a result of the voluntary exit from declared employment due ...

This study demonstrates that pulsed potential electrolysis significantly improves CO2 reduction performance on copper‐nitrogen doped carbon electrodes. The formation of cationic copper sites and metallic clusters as a function of applied intermittent potential leads to notable selectivity changes compared to potentiostatic reduction.

DEFINING AND ESTIMATING UNDERGROUND AND INFORMAL ECONOMIES: THE NEW INSTITIONAL ECONOMICS APPROACH [PDF]
A taxonomy of underground economies is elaborated based on the new institutional approach to economic development. Members of formal sectors confront different sets of transformation and transaction costs than do members of informal sectors and these ...

The first cryo‐EM visualization and quantification of oriented Photosystem I (PSI) on single‐layer graphene is reported. Domain‐specific covalent anchoring of PSI, with the reducing side of the biophotocatalyst toward graphene, promotes three‐fold higher anodic photocurrent generation compared to a randomly physisorbed counterpart. This approach allows

Free‐standing plasmonic gold‐based fractal antennas are fabricated by 3D nanoprinting, employing focused electron beam induced deposition and an optimized purification method to remove carbon while conserving structural fidelity. Simulation and experiment show broadband plasmonic activity, including customizable polarizability, thereby paving the way ...

Peptide Sequencing With Single Acid Resolution Using a Sub‐Nanometer Diameter Pore
To sequence a single molecule of Aβ1−42–sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), the aggregate is forced through a sub‐nanopore 0.4 nm in diameter spanning a 4.0 nm thick membrane. The figure is a visual molecular dynamics (VMD) snapshot depicting the translocation of Aβ1−42–SDS through the pore; only the peptide, the SDS, the Na+ (yellow/green) and Cl− (cyan ...

Small Businesses and the Shadow Economy [PDF]
This paper investigates causalities between small businesses and the shadow economy in ten New Member States of the European Union in the years 2000–2005. The transition from a centrally planned to a market economy, with deregulation and privatization of

In this research, it is demonstrated that dual nitrogen and sulfur doping in hollow carbon spheres creates a tunable coordination environment that stabilizes cationic Pd single atoms as robust organometallic complexes, enabling high selectivity and stability for electrochemical hydrogen peroxide production under harsh acidic and peroxide‐rich ...
