Mechanical efficiency of breathing
Journal of Applied Physiology, 1960Simultaneous measurements of mechanical work and energy cost of breathing were performed on four normal subjects with ventilation increased by adding dead space. Mechanical work was obtained from simultaneous records of endoesophageal pressure and tidal volume.

Mechanical efficiency in rowing
European Journal of Applied Physiology and Occupational Physiology, 1986Five university oarsmen participated in a determination of mechanical efficiency when rowing in a tank. In the tank, water was circulated at 3 m X s-1 by a motor driven pump. The subjects rowed with the stepwise incremental loading, in which the intensity increased by 10% of the maximum force of rowing (maxFc) every 2 min.

An efficient privatization mechanism
The Journal of Policy Reform, 1998We consider the privatization of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) of which markets can be opened to competition once privatization takes place and competitors can compete successfully against them in a few years. The currently used “Revenue Maximization (RM)” scheme maximizes the government revenue from privatization but does not provide incentives for ...

Efficient congestion avoidance mechanism
Proceedings 25th Annual IEEE Conference on Local Computer Networks. LCN 2000, 2002Increasing uncontrolled best-effort traffic deteriorates the ability of TCP to control congestion and is a source of high drop rates. This paper proposes an efficient congestion avoidance mechanism (ECAM) suitable for uncontrolled unicast and multicast best-effort flows.

Determining the Mechanical Efficiency of Otto Enginees Mechanism
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2005The paper presents a few original elements about the dynamics and kinematics of piston the mechanism, used like motor mechanism from OTTO engines. One presents an original method to determine the efficiency of the piston mechanism, used like motor mechanism. This method consists of eliminating the friction modulus.
