Harvesting Method Affects Water Dynamics and Yield of Sweet Orange with Huanglongbing

open access: yesAgriculture, 2018
Changes in grove management practices may change crop water dynamics. The objective of this study was to estimate sap flow, stem water potential (Ψstem), and citrus yield as affected by harvesting methods in sweet orange (Citrus sinensis) trees affected ...

Integration of Elymus repens control and post-harvest catch crop growing in organic cropping systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In Northern Europe, Elymus repens (L.) Gould infestations are traditionally controlled by repeated stubble cultivation in the period from harvest to ploughing in autumn. However, in organic farming, post-harvest tillage is undesirable due to the need for

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

Mechanical aids to sweet potato harvest

open access: yesCalifornia Agriculture, 1969
APPROXIMATELY 9,000 acres of sweet potatoes are grown annually in California, with Merced County accounting for more than 60 per cent of this total acreage. Fresno, Stanislaus, San Joaquin, and Kern counties grow the remaining 40 per cent of the acreage.

Controlled Morphological Growth and Photonic Lasing in Cesium Lead Bromide Microcrystals

open access: yesNanomaterials
Morphology plays a crucial role in defining the optical, electronic, and mechanical properties of halide perovskite microcrystals. Therefore, developing strategies that offer precise control over crystal morphology during the growth process is highly ...

SIMULATION OF HARVESTING ASPARAGUS: MECHANICAL VS MANUAL [PDF]

open access: yes
Asparagus harvesting methods and strategies have remained unchanged since inception in Washington. A bioeconomic model was developed to determine the profit optimizing frequency of harvesting for manual and mechanical harvesting techniques.

The effects of leaf litter treatments, post-harvest urea and omission of early season fungicide sprays on the overwintering of apple scab on Bramley’s Seedling grown in a maritime environment. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
peer-reviewedThe theory that orchards with zero or low levels of apple scab post harvest do not need scab protection at the start of the next growing season was evaluated under Irish conditions.

PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells enhances bortezomib sensitivity in multiple myeloma cells by altering their metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

The Effect of Urea Fertilization Method and Moisture Content at Harvest Time on Mechanical Properties of Dried Corn

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Machinery, 2014
Mechanical properties of grain are influenced by various factors including soil nutrients and grain moisture content at harvest time. In order to reduce mechanical losses, the design of different processing operations should be performed based on the ...
