A performance study of the RPE mechanism for PDES
Proceedings of International Workshop on Modeling, Analysis and Simulation of Computer and Telecommunication Systems, 2002We present the latest implementation of our Remote Process Execution (RPE) mechanism for parallel discrete-event simulation (PDES), along with results of an empirical study of its performance. RPE is an optimistic time warp based mechanism, which allows logical processes on one processor to execute remotely on another when the former is lagging behind ...

Mechanization and crop performance
1978In the last 25 years techniques of potato production throughout the world have changed radically. Although developments in western Europe have not been as rapid as in the U.S.A., mechanization has nevertheless reached a more advanced level there than in some other parts of the world, and the changes which have taken place in Great Britain may therefore

Mechanical performance of surgical needle holders
The Journal of Emergency Medicine, 1991A new quantitative measurement of surgical needle holder performance has been described that records the forces (clamping moment) applied by the needle holder jaws to curved surgical needles. This test has been used to determine the applied clamping forces of four different surgical needle holders made by one manufacturer.

The Performance Measurement Mechanism
2013The Literature on performance measurement systems is abundant, although scholars have not achieved a consensus on which performance measurement framework better fits the different contexts in which the firms operate. This Chapter first addresses the role of the performance measurement in the performance management system and analyses the ...

Mechanical Functions of Performance
1986The development of a spatially related designing system has been seen to provide a basis for the understanding and evaluation of most engineering assembly problems. In such assemblies the individual piece-parts are related simply by the geometric relationships that occur by accident or are required by design.

The Perform and Dependency Mechanisms
1997This chapter introduces the use of the perform mechanism which provides an alternative method for sending messages. It then presents a practical discussion of the dependency mechanism. This includes what the dependency mechanism is, why you might want to use it, how to construct a dependency and the effect that it has.

Performative Statements and the Will: Mechanisms of Psychotherapeutic Change
American Journal of Psychotherapy, 1999Performative statements are much discussed in the philosophy of language, e.g., by the linguistic philosopher, J. L. Austin, where they are distinguished from descriptive statements. Whereas the latter merely describe a current state of affairs from an external standpoint, performative statements enact a new state of affairs merely by being spoken, as ...
