Mechanical Properties of Ply-Lam Cross-Laminated Timbers Fabricated with Lumber and Plywood

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Wood and Wood Products, 2023
Abstract The mechanical properties of four ply-lam cross-laminated timbers (CLTs) containing a plywood layer were compared with those of glued laminated timber (GLT) and CLT. The bending, out-of-plane shear, compression strengths were highest in the GLT, which was followed by the ply-lam CLTs and CLT.

Effect of temperature on the mechanical performance of plywood used in membrane-type LNG carrier insulation systems

open access: yesJournal of Wood Science, 2020
In this study, the mechanical performance of melamine–urea–formaldehyde (MUF) resin plywood composed of an orthotropic material, which is used as a structural material in liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo containment systems (CCSs), is evaluated.

Impact of phenol film grammage on selected mechanical properties of plywood

open access: yesAnnals of WULS, Forestry and Wood Technology, 2020
Impact of phenol film grammage on chosen mechanical properties of plywood. For the purpose of this research several plywood samples with a thickness of 15 mm were produced and coated, in industrial conditions, with 5 different variants of phenol films varying in terms of grammage (40/120 g/m2, 60/145 g/m2, 60/167 g/m2, 80/220 g/m2, 2 × 80/220 g/m2 ...
