Mechanical properties of graphene [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Physics Reviews, 2021
This paper reviews the mechanical properties of graphene with particular attention to what is established and what is still uncertain. It clarifies the thickness and the elastic constants, and by also considering also phonon frequencies, it argues that “best values” come from graphite, when available.

Development of an Impact Energy Absorption Structure by an Arc Shape Stroke Origami Type Hydraulic Damper

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2023
Cylindrical hydraulic dampers used to reduce impacts and vibrations typically have linear strokes. In this study, a new arc-shaped stroke-type origami hydraulic damper with a nonlinear damping performance was proposed.

MechProNet: Machine Learning Prediction of Mechanical Properties in Metal Additive Manufacturing [PDF]

open access: yesAdditive Manufacturing, Volume 91, 2024, 104320, ISSN 2214-8604, 2022
Predicting mechanical properties in metal additive manufacturing (MAM) is essential for ensuring the performance and reliability of printed parts, as well as their suitability for specific applications. However, conducting experiments to estimate mechanical properties in MAM processes can be laborious and expensive, and they are often limited to ...

Atomistic mechanism of phase transformation between topologically close-packed complex intermetallics

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
It is challenging to study how topologically close-packed phases (TCPs) transform between one phase to another. Here the authors use atomic-resolved tools to look at the transformation between μ and P phases, revealing an intrinsic link between seemingly
