Real-Time Minimization of Mechanical Specific Energy with Multivariable Extremum Seeking [PDF]
Drilling more efficiently and with less non-productive time (NPT) is one of the key enablers to reduce field development costs. In this work, we investigate the application of a data-driven optimization method called extremum seeking (ES) to achieve more

Experimental study on working mechanics of PDC bit with worn teeth
PDC bits have been working in a worn state for a long time. To explore its cutting performance and avoid premature failure of the bit, this paper analyzes the load on the worn teeth and the drilling characteristics of the bit through single tooth cutting

Binding energy and specificity in the catalytic mechanism of yeast aldose reductases [PDF]
Derivatives of D-xylose and D-glucose, in which the hydroxy groups at C-5, and C-5 and C-6 were replaced by fluorine, hydrogen and azide, were synthesized and used as substrates of the NAD(P)H-dependent aldehyde reduction catalysed by aldose reductases isolated from the yeasts Candida tenuis, C. intermedia and Cryptococcus flavus.

Specific microbiome-dependent mechanisms underlie the energy harvest efficiency of ruminants [PDF]
Abstract Ruminants have the remarkable ability to convert human-indigestible plant biomass into human-digestible food products, due to a complex microbiome residing in the rumen compartment of their upper digestive tract. Here we report the discovery that rumen microbiome components are tightly linked to cows’ ability to extract energy ...
