Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Experimental mechanician for plate lattice metamaterial discovery
Plate lattice metamaterials offer higher strength-to-weight efficiency than traditional truss lattices. Their optimization, however, is challenging when having more parameters and multiple objectives. Here, we present an experimental mechanician (ExMech)

Domain Adaptive Motor Fault Diagnosis Using Deep Transfer Learning
Motor fault diagnosis based on deep learning frameworks has gained much attention from academic research and industry to guarantee motor reliability. Those methods are commonly under two default assumptions: 1) massive labeled training samples and 2) the

TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Relation between vibrotactile perception thresholds and reductions in finger blood flow induced by vibration of the hand at frequencies in the range 8–250 Hz [PDF]
Purpose: this study investigated how the vasoconstriction induced by vibration depends on the frequency of vibration when the vibration magnitude is defined by individual thresholds for perceiving vibration [i.e.

Fault Detection for Vibration Signals on Rolling Bearings Based on the Symplectic Entropy Method
Bearing vibration response studies are crucial for the condition monitoring of bearings and the quality inspection of rotating machinery systems. However, it is still very difficult to diagnose bearing faults, especially rolling element faults, due to ...

Effect of terahertz irradiation on DNA damage repair in living cells
We investigated the effect of terahertz (THz) wave irradiation on DNA double‐strand break (DSB) repair in living cells. We found that THz irradiation enhanced DSB repair at specific frequencies, whereas heat treatment inhibited it, indicating that this effect is nonthermal and frequency‐specific.

Long‐Term Neurologic Exam Findings in People Diagnosed and Treated During Acute HIV Infection
ABSTRACT Objective Evaluate clinical and laboratory correlates of abnormal neurologic exam findings after acute HIV infection (AHI). Methods Participants from the RV254/SEARCH 010 cohort in Bangkok underwent standardized neurologic examinations at Weeks 0 (AHI), 12, 96, and 288 following antiretroviral therapy (ART).

Discomfort caused by x-axis vibration of the back: effect of backrest inclination [PDF]
Vibration of the back is a potential source of discomfort for car passengers, with vibration in the x-axis (i.e. fore-and-aft with an upright backrest) often dominant.
