Spectrally pure heralded single photons by spontaneous four-wave mixing in a fiber: reducing impact of dispersion fluctuations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We model the spectral quantum-mechanical purity of heralded single photons from a photon-pair source based on nondegenerate spontaneous four-wave mixing taking the impact of distributed dispersion fluctuations into account.

Dispersion and the electron-phonon interaction in a single heterostructure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We investigate the electron-phonon interaction in a polar-polar single heterostructure through the use of the linear combination of hybrid phonon modes, considering the role of longitudinal optical, transverse optical and interface modes, using a ...

Non-perturbative approach for the time-dependent symmetry breaking

open access: yes, 2003
We present a variational method which uses a quartic exponential function as a trial wave-function to describe time-dependent quantum mechanical systems.

Enhancing the bandwidth of gravitational-wave detectors with unstable optomechanical filters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
For gravitational-wave interferometric detectors, there is a tradeoff between the detector bandwidth and peak sensitivity when focusing on the shot noise level.

First evidence of non-locality in real band-gap metamaterials: determining parameters in the relaxed micromorphic model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper we propose the first estimate of some elastic parameters of the relaxed micromorphic model on the basis of real experiments of transmission of longitudinal plane waves across an interface separating a classical Cauchy material (steel plate)

Wave Solutions

open access: yes, 2012
In classical continuum physics, a wave is a mechanical disturbance. Whether the disturbance is stationary or traveling and whether it is caused by the motion of atoms and molecules or the vibration of a lattice structure, a wave can be understood as a ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Effect of viscoelastic medium on wave propagation along protein microtubules

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2019
An Orthotropic Kelvin-like model is developed here to study wave dispersion relation along microtubules when they are embedded in viscoelastic material.

Blocking a wave: Frequency band gaps in ice shelves with periodic crevasses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We assess how the propagation of high-frequency elastic-flexural waves through an ice shelf is modified by the presence of spatially periodic crevasses.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.
