Peripheral Mechanisms of Mechanical Itch

Journal of Investigative Dermatology
Mechanical itch, which is defined as an itch sensation caused by innocuous mechanical force, may warn of the potential risk in the skin. The increased mechanosensitivity in sensory neurons may cause scratch-induced itch and promote the transition from acute itch to chronic itch.

Mechanisms with Referrals: VCG Mechanisms and Multilevel Mechanisms

2017
We study mechanisms for environments in which only some of the agents are directly connected to a mechanism designer and the other agents can participate in a mechanism only through the connected agents' referrals. In such environments, the mechanism designer and agents may have different interest in varying participants so that agents strategically ...

Mechanisms of teratogenesis*

Development, 1976
ABSTRACTIn view of the great number of teratogenic factors known and the vast array of congenital defects, disorders and syndromes, it would probably be a waste of time to search for unifying mechanisms and principles in abnormal development. Instead, therefore, I shall describe a selection of teratogens and their consequences, and try to arrange them ...

Cyberspatial Mechanics

IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, Part B (Cybernetics), 2008
In support of a generalization of systems theory, this paper introduces a new approach in modeling complex distributed systems. It offers an analytic framework for describing the behavior of interactive cyberphysical systems (CPSs), which are networked stationary or mobile information systems responsible for the real-time governance of physical ...

The mechanization of science

Proceedings of the 1961 16th ACM national meeting on -, 1961
Let me briefly talk about the crisis in handling information that we now face, especially in the sciences. The number of persons working in science now greatly exceeds any reasonable predictions made a few decades ago, and will probably similarly increase in the future. The problem of keeping up with what is being published, even in a very narrow field,

Mechanics of materials

Technology and Health Care, 2010
Mechanics of materials is the science of forces applied on a body and response of the body in terms of deformation. Different type of loadings on bodies with different geometries or made of different material give rise to different deformations. Last but not the least, this science allows to predict the failure of a body under certain loading condition
