Mechanics of materials

Technology and Health Care, 2010
Mechanics of materials is the science of forces applied on a body and response of the body in terms of deformation. Different type of loadings on bodies with different geometries or made of different material give rise to different deformations. Last but not the least, this science allows to predict the failure of a body under certain loading condition

Composite Material Mechanics: Structural Mechanics

AIAA Journal, 1974
Introduction T purpose of this Survey is to review and bring together in an orderly fashion some of the principal contributions to the field of structural mechanics of structures containing composite materials. The topics of micromechanics and fracture, while quite important, are not considered in this Survey.

Silicon as a Mechanical Material

MRS Proceedings, 1982
ABSTRACTNow that single crystal silicon has established itself as the preeminent electronic material, increasing applications are being implemented in which silicon's MECHANICAL properties are more important. This paper reviews some of the history behind this trend, explains how and why silicon can be an economical and effective mechanical material ...

Mechanics of materials

2012
The rapid advances of modern fabrications technologies require a thorough understanding of physical and mechanical properties of materials as influenced by their atomic composition, processing history and structure at the micro- and nanometer length scales.

Mechanics of Materials

2022
Romans arches were used to form bridges, aqueducts, and buildings, including the Coliseum. Arches accommodate uniform loads quite well, but concentrated load, especially at the center point, cause instability and possible collapse [1]. Instability was solved by building wall-type extension, called spandrels, outside of arches.
