Mechanochemistry of ibuprofen pharmaceutical
Chemosphere, 2012In this paper mechanochemistry has been studied in view of possible application to detoxification of expired pharmaceuticals. The experiments have been carried out with a commercial medication containing ibuprofen ((RS)-2-(4-(2-methylpropyl)phenyl)propanoic acid) which has been submitted to prolonged milling up to 40h.

Science, 1996
Some chemical reactions, such as the detonation of explosives, can be initiated by mechanical forces. In his Perspective, Gilman discusses the microscopic story behind such reactions. Unlike liquids or gases, solids can experience shear forces, and these in turn can cause bending of atomic bonds in molecules.

Mechanochemistry in Glycation Research
Journal of Agricultural and Food ChemistryMechanochemistry by milling has recently attracted considerable interest for its ability to drive solvent-free chemical transformations exclusively through mechanical energy and at ambient temperatures. Despite its popularity and expanding applications in different fields of chemistry, its impact on Food Science remains limited.

The historical development of mechanochemistry
Chemical Society Reviews, 2013This paper reviews the history of mechanochemistry. It begins with prehistoric times, when reactions could be initiated during grinding and rubbing accidentally, and follows the main developments until recent results and current trends. There are very few records on mechanochemistry until the first systematic investigations by Spring and Lea at the end

On the mechanochemistry of muscular contraction
Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1972Abstract A kinetic theory of skeletal muscle contraction is presented. It is based on the sliding filament model considering the complex formed between ATP-loaded myosin subfragment-1 and ADP-loaded G-actin as the locus of the mechanochemical energy conversion.

Solvent-assisted mechanochemistry
Chem. Commun., 2013The literature on solvent-assisted mechanochemistry is reviewed with a view to linking observations concerning the applicability of the technique to theories of its mechanism, and summarizing the advantages and limitations of the technique when applied to a variety of different reaction types.
