Testing the media equation with children

Proceedings of the SIGCHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems, 2005
Designers of children's technology are often more interested in user motivation than those who design systems for adults. Since children's technology often has aims such as education or practice, keeping the user engaged and interested is an important objective.

Transfer equation in accelerated media

Physical Review D, 1986
The transfer equation for photons is obtained from the Lindquist formalism in curvilinear coordinates (no symmetry assumed), in an arbitrary frame and in any basis (natural or physical), to first order in O(v/c). Acceleration terms in the fluid are introduced via a modification of the metric tensor.

Equator

Proceedings of the 16th conference on Association Francophone d'Interaction Homme-Machine - IHM 2004, 2004
The Equator interdisciplinary research collaboration has been exploring the combination of media such as mobile devices and collaborative virtual environments. We have built collaborative systems for a number of application areas including cultural heritage and tourism, performance, games, medical monitoring and environmental science.

The generalized burgers equation in viscoanelastic media with memory

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1987
In this paper the propagation of nonlinear dissipative waves in viscoanelastic media with memory is considered using a thermodynamic theory for mechanical relaxation phenomena proposed in some previous papers [e.g.: the authors, Physica A 132, 606-616 (1985; Zbl 0657.76009)].

On Maxwell's equations in non-stationary media

Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 2008
Maxwell's equations formulated for media with gradually changing conductivity are reduced to Volterra integral equations. Analytical and numerical investigations of the equations are presented for the case of gradual splash-like change in conductivity.

Reaction - diffusion equations in perforated media

Nonlinearity, 1997
The author considers the problem \[ {\partial\over\partial t} u(t,x)= {1\over 2} \sum^r_{i,j= 1} a_{ij}(x){\partial^2\over \partial x_i\partial x_j} u(t,x)+ \sum^r_{i= 1} b_i(x){\partial\over\partial x_i} u(t,x),\;t\in (0,\infty),\;x\in D= \mathbb{R}^r\setminus \bigcup^\infty_{i= 1} H_i, \] \[ {\partial u\over\partial n}+ f(x,u)= 0,\;x\in\bigcup ...

The penalty method for equations of viscoelastic media

Journal of Mathematical Sciences, 1998
In the present paper, we study the global classical solvability of the first initial-boundary value problem for some three-dimensional equations and the convergence of solutions of the equations to the classical solutions of the first initial-boundary value problem for the Navier-Stokes equations as e→0. Bibliography:35 titles.
