Strain measurement at the knee ligament insertion sites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We describe the modification of an existing method of ligament strain measurement at the knee joint in detail. At ten fresh joint specimens we used that technique where strain gauges are attached to the ligamentous insertions and origins.

Triple-Bundle Medial Collateral Ligament Reconstruction: The Medial Arrow Technique

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques
Medial knee injuries are common and sometimes overlooked in cases of anterior cruciate ligament injuries. Persistent anteromedial rotatory instability can lead to chronic pain and later anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction failure.

Prevalence of abnormal findings in 230 knees of asymptomatic adults using 3.0 T MRI. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
OBJECTIVE: To identify abnormalities in asymptomatic sedentary individuals using 3.0 Tesla high-resolution MRI. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The cohort comprised of 230 knees of 115 uninjured sedentary adults (51 males, 64 females; median age: 44 years).

The evaluation of the role of medial collateral ligament maintaining knee stability by a finite element analysis

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research, 2017
Background A three-dimensional finite element model (FEM) of the knee joint was established to analyze the biomechanical functions of the superficial and deep medial collateral ligaments (MCLs) of knee joints and to investigate the treatment of the knee ...

Percutaneous Partial Outside-In Release of Medial Collateral Ligament for Arthroscopic Medial Meniscus Surgery With Tight Medial Compartment by Finding a “Magic Point”

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, 2020
The medial meniscus is one of the more commonly injured structures as compared with the lateral meniscus. In patients with tight medial joint space, it is difficult to visualize the posterior horn and posterior root of medial meniscus and even more ...

Surgical Management of the Multiple-Ligament Knee Injury

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, 2018
The management of multiligament knee injury is a complex process starting with the adequate identification of the injury. A detailed physical and radiographic examination with a thorough understanding of knee anatomy is crucial to assess all damaged ...

Medial collateral ligament injuries of the knee: current treatment concepts [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Reviews in Musculoskeletal Medicine, 2007
The medial collateral ligament is one of the most commonly injured ligaments of the knee. Most injuries result from a valgus force on the knee. The increased participation in football, ice hockey, and skiing has all contributed to the increased frequency of MCL injuries.

Arthroscopic Medial Compartment Drive-Through Sign for Knee Medial Collateral Ligament Complex Injuries

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, 2022
Acute injuries of the knee medial collateral ligament complex concomitant with anterior cruciate ligament injuries are common. The exact site of the injury may be difficult to diagnose preoperatively on magnetic resonance imaging. This study describes an arthroscopic sign that helps determine the site of the knee medial collateral ligament complex ...

Pie-crusting technique is effective and safe to release superficial medial collateral ligament for total knee arthroplasty

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Translation, 2018
Background: Pie-crusting technique is a damage-control soft tissue balance skill of total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The outcome of this technique to release lateral soft tissue is reasonable.
