The Plantar Support of the Navicular-Cunieform Joint

open access: yesFoot & Ankle Orthopaedics, 2018
Category: Midfoot/Forefoot Introduction/Purpose: Weight-bearing radiographic analysis of pes planus deformities shows, with varying degree of severity, a break in Meary’s line, uncovering of the talar head and an increase in talar-first metatarsal angle.

How Does Lateral Column Lengthening Correct the Flatfoot? A Cadaveric Study

open access: yesFoot & Ankle Orthopaedics, 2023
Category: Hindfoot; Basic Sciences/Biologics Introduction/Purpose: Since its description by Evan for correction of overcorrected clubfoot cases, lateral column lengthening ( LCL) has been widely used for correction of pes planovalgus deformity of any ...

Medial Longitudinal Arch Development of Children Aged 7 to 9 Years: Longitudinal Investigation [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Therapy, 2016
AbstractBackgroundIt is unclear at what age the medial longitudinal arch (MLA) of the foot becomes stable in children. The influence of footwear on MLA development also is unknown.ObjectiveThe purpose of this study was to examine the MLA development of children using a longitudinal approach.

Measurements Used to Characterize the Foot and the Medial Longitudinal Arch: Reliability and Validity [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Therapy, 2000
Abstract Background and Purpose. Abnormality in the structure of the medial longitudinal arch of the foot is commonly thought to be a predisposing factor to injury. The purpose of this investigation was to compare the reliability and validity of several measurements used to characterize various aspects of the foot, including the medial ...

Paclitaxel induces NM2‐dependent cellular contraction through GEF‐H1 dissociation from microtubules and RhoA/ROCK activation in cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Taxanes are widely used chemotherapeutics whose effects on cellular mechanics remain poorly understood. We show that paclitaxel induces rapid cellular contraction by promoting GEF‐H1 dissociation from microtubules and non‐muscle myosin II activation through RhoA/ROCK.

Anorectal Dysfunction in Systemic Sclerosis: Clinical Phenotypes and Functional Patterns

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The aim of this study was to characterize specific physiologic defects in anorectal dysfunction in systemic sclerosis (SSc) using anorectal manometry (ARM), evaluate associations with gastrointestinal (GI) and extraintestinal clinical phenotypes, and explore potential serologic markers for risk stratification.
