Extrusion of the medial meniscus
Arthroscopy: The Journal of Arthroscopic & Related Surgery, 1991Disruption of the anchoring points of the menisci of the knee has been hypothesized to result in subluxation of the affected meniscus from the articular surface. A case report of such an extrusion of the medial meniscus is presented. Medial subluxation of the meniscus from the tibiofemoral articulation occurred as a result of avulsion of the posterior ...

A discoid medial meniscus is an extremely rare anomaly. We present 4 cases of symptomatic discoid medial meniscus. Furthermore, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the unaffected knee was obtained in 3 cases, and 1 patient had bilateral discoid medial menisci as well as a unilateral discoid lateral meniscus proven by MRI.

Ramp Lesions of the Medial Meniscus
Current Reviews in Musculoskeletal Medicine, 2023To provide an overview of the recent scientific literature about ramp lesions of the medial meniscus and to summarise the current evidence on their prevalence, classification, biomechanics, surgical techniques and clinical outcomes.Ramp lesions may be present in more than 1 patient undergoing ACL reconstruction out of 5 and almost half of the medial ...

Mechanoreceptors in the Human Medial Meniscus
Cells Tissues Organs, 1988Medial menisci, obtained at autopsy, were sectioned into radial segments which were stained in bulk using a modified gold chloride method following pretreatment with Triton X-100. Segments were then sectioned on a sliding microtome at 100 µm, mounted on slides, dehydrated and coverslipped.

Congenital Medial Meniscus Hypoplasia
Orthopedics, 2016An 18-year-old man with no prior surgical history presented with left knee pain after sustaining a basketball injury and was diagnosed with transient patellar dislocation. Magnetic resonance imaging was ordered to further assess the extent of injury.
