Chondrocalcinosis and medial unicompartmental knee arthroplasty

open access: yesThe Knee, 1995
Abstract The presence of chondrocalcinosis in a knee which otherwise fulfils the criteria for unicompartmental knee arthroplasty has been considered a contraindication to this procedure. This paper compares the results of two groups of patients undergoing unicompartmental knee arthroplasty; there were 78 knees with degenerative arthritis, and 20 ...

Cementless unicompartmental knee replacement allows early return to normal activity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background: Physical activity and regular participation in recreational sports gain importance in patients’ lifestyle after knee arthroplasty. Cementless unicompartimental Knee replacement with the Oxford System has been introduced into clinical routine.

Minimally invasive Oxford medial unicompartmental knee arthroplasty [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Orthopaedics, 2006
We present the peak outcome results of the Oxford medial unicompartmental arthroplasty through a minimally invasive surgical incision. This prospective study included 78 Oxford medial unicompartmental knee replacements in 68 patients. At the 2 year review the patients achieved a mean Oxford Knee Score of 38.3.

Alignment in total knee arthroplasty : what’s in a name? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Dissatisfaction following total knee arthroplasty is a well-documented phenomenon. Although many factors have been implicated, including modifiable and nonmodifiable patient factors, emphasis over the past decade has been on implant alignment and ...

Reduced spinopelvic mobility does not correlate with knee flexion deformity in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of reduced spinopelvic mobility (SM) on knee flexion deformity (KFD) in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Methods A retrospective analysis on 213 patients (271 knees) undergoing robotic‐assisted primary TKA was conducted.

Age and Outcomes of Medial Meniscal-Bearing Unicompartmental Knee Arthroplasty [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Arthroplasty, 2018
National joint registries report increasing revision rates with decreasing patient age for all types of joint arthroplasty. This study aimed to explore the effect of age on function and revision risk in patients undergoing medial meniscal-bearing UKA.A prospectively followed cohort of 1000 consecutive medial meniscal-bearing UKAs at a designer center ...

Personalized alignment in total knee arthroplasty reduces patellar tilt: A retrospective study

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Patellofemoral kinematics is crucial for patient satisfaction following total knee arthroplasty (TKA). A postoperative patellar tilt greater than 5° has been associated with inferior clinical outcomes. While a femoral component external rotation beyond 3° is generally protective against patellar tilt, personalized alignment may not ...
