Hybrid EEG—Eye Tracker: Automatic Identification and Removal of Eye Movement and Blink Artifacts from Electroencephalographic Signal

open access: yesSensors, 2016
Contamination of eye movement and blink artifacts in Electroencephalogram (EEG) recording makes the analysis of EEG data more difficult and could result in mislead findings.

Modified Repeated Median Filters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We discuss moving window techniques for fast extraction of a signal comprising monotonic trends and abrupt shifts from a noisy time series with irrelevant spikes.

Switching to non-affine stochastic volatility: A closed-form expansion for the Inverse Gamma model

open access: yes, 2016
This paper introduces the Inverse Gamma (IGa) stochastic volatility model with time-dependent parameters, defined by the volatility dynamics $dV_{t}=\kappa_{t}\left(\theta_{t}-V_{t}\right)dt+\lambda_{t}V_{t}dB_{t}$.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Benchmark study of three statistical methods for six intact rock failure criteria constrained by different rock strength data

open access: yesUnderground Space
To reduce the impact of potential strength outliers on parameter estimation, statistical methods based on the least median square and least absolute deviation have been proposed as alternatives to the traditional least square method.

Quantitative assessment of polymetallic pollution of the dnieper river by a method of heavy metals background concentration calculation in mussel Anodonta anatina

open access: yesVìsnik Dnìpropetrovsʹkogo Unìversitetu: Serìâ Bìologìâ, Ekologìâ, 2009
Statistically significant exceeding of a background level of the heavy metal content in Anodonta anatina (Linnaeus, 1758) soft tissues was applied for pollution measure.

TWO-STAGE HUBER ESTIMATION [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we study how the Huber estimator can be adapted to the presence of endogeneity in a two stage equations setting similar to that of 2SLS. We propose an estimation procedure that is at the same time relatively (i) simple, (ii) robust and (iii)

Pathogenic Neurofibromatosis type 1 gene variants in tumors of non‐NF1 patients and role of R1276

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Somatic variants of the neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) gene occur across neoplasms without clinical manifestation of the disease NF1. We identified emerging somatic pathogenic NF1 variants and hotspots, for example, at the arginine finger 1276. Those missense variants provide fundamental information about neurofibromin's role in cancer.

ATP13A2 is involved in intracellular polyamine transport in lung epithelial cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Spermidine transport in lung epithelial cells involves the polyamine transporter ATP13A2. Cell proliferation is associated with the upregulation of ATP13A2. Polyamines are present in all living cells and are implicated in various crucial cellular processes such as proliferation, apoptosis and autophagy.
