Cyber Security of Smart Metering Infrastructure Using Median Absolute Deviation Methodology

open access: yesSecurity and Communication Networks, 2022
To combat cyber threats in the smart grid, an intrusion detection system can be integrated into the advanced metering infrastructure. Anomaly-based intrusion detection can detect even the tiniest changes in the parameter under investigation, whereas signature-based intrusion detection only recognises known attacks.

Feasibility Study of Robust Optimization to Reduce Dose Delivery Uncertainty by Potential Applicator Displacements for a Cervix Brachytherapy

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
Brachytherapy is an important technique to increase the overall survival of cervical cancer patients. However, a possible shift of the applicators in relation to the target and organs at risk may occur between imaging and treatment.

Unbiased Instrumental Variables Estimation Under Known First-Stage Sign [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We derive mean-unbiased estimators for the structural parameter in instrumental variables models with a single endogenous regressor where the sign of one or more first stage coefficients is known.

The Component Weighted Median Absolute Deviations Problem

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics, 2020
This paper considers the problem of robust modeling by using the well-known Least Absolute Deviation (LAD) regression. For that purpose, the approximation function is designed and analyzed, which is based on a certain component weight of the Weighted Median of Data.

Characterizing Parental Concerns About Lasting Impacts of Treatment in Children With B‐Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background B‐acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B‐ALL) is the most common pediatric cancer, and while most children in high‐resource settings are cured, therapy carries risks for long‐term toxicities. Understanding parents’ concerns about these late effects is essential to guide anticipatory support and inform evolving therapeutic approaches ...

How to Classify, Detect, and Manage Univariate and Multivariate Outliers, With Emphasis on Pre-Registration

open access: yesInternational Review of Social Psychology, 2019
Researchers often lack knowledge about how to deal with outliers when analyzing their data. Even more frequently, researchers do not pre-specify how they plan to manage outliers.
