Impact of Combined Additional Resections on the Surgical Outcomes of Robot‐Assisted Resection of Thymic Epithelial Tumors

open access: yesJournal of Surgical Oncology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Robot‐assisted thoracoscopy (RATS) is rapidly emerging as the preferred approach for the resection of thymic epithelial tumors (TET). Current challenges include the role of RATS in locally advanced disease and combined additional resections.

Subtotal median sternotomy for heart surgery [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, 2000
Many approaches for minimally invasive heart surgery are available. Although they have many advantages, inadequate exposure, mammary artery injury and special tool requirements are known problems. Subtotal median sternotomy (SMS) was developed to overcome such limitations. Comparing the SMS with the standard sternotomy (SS) is the purpose of this study.

Hemocompatibility Outcomes After Aspirin Withdrawal in Long‐Term HeartMate 3 Left Ventricular Assist Device Patients on Vitamin K Antagonists

open access: yesArtificial Organs, EarlyView.
Aspirin discontinuation in long‐term, stable Heart Mate 3 LVAD patients maintained on Vitamin K antagonists did not increase hemocompatibility‐related adverse events. These findings support the safety of simplified antithrombotic therapy and extend randomized evidence for aspirin avoidance to the long‐term management of Heart Mate 3 recipients ...

A Novel Biventricular Assist Device With a Single Driveline: A Report on the First Patient Treated

open access: yesArtificial Organs, EarlyView.
We would like to report the first‐in‐human implantation of the novel DuoCor‐BiVAS biventricular assist device (BiVAD). This system features a single driveline and compact peripheral components, offering a promising mechanical support option for patients with terminal biventricular heart failure ineligible for heart transplantation.
