ENLARGEMENT of lymph nodes in the neck almost invariably forms an integral part of the clinical features of infectious mononucleosis. When the lymphadenopathy is accompanied by sore throat and splenomegaly, the diagnosis of infectious mononucleosis is quite likely, but must be confirmed by specific laboratory examinations.
