Planning Target Volume and Nodal Status Predict Clinical Outcomes After Chemoradiation and Durvalumab in Stage III Non‐Small Cell Lung Cancer

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 16, Issue 14, July 2025.
In this two‐center retrospective study, planning tumor volume (PTV) and nodal status significantly correlated with clinical outcomes—progression‐free survival, early (< 6 months) and distant recurrence—in Stage III non‐small cell lung cancer patients treated with concurrent chemoradiation and Durvalumab. A threshold of PTV 350 cm3 provides a clinically

Silicosarcoidosis: Histologic and Clinical Features of an Occupational Granulomatous Disease

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Industrial Medicine, Volume 68, Issue 6, Page 491-507, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Sarcoidosis is a multisystem inflammatory disease of unknown etiology. Tuberculosis and mediastinoscopy. [PDF]

open access: yesThorax, 1978
Biopsy of lymph nodes at mediastinoscopy has been the method of diagnosis of tuberculosis in 14 patients; Mycobacterium tuberculosis was cultured from the nodes in nine cases, and in five there was histological evidence of the disease but cultural confirmation was lacking.

Repeated Anatomical Pulmonary Resection for Second Primary Nonsmall‐Cell Lung Cancer: Safety and Short‐Term Outcomes

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 16, Issue 12, June 2025.
In 55 patients with second primary nonsmall‐cell lung cancer (NSCLC), repeated anatomical video‐assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) resections—mostly segmentectomies—were safe and effective. Despite a higher rate of air leak and atrial fibrillation, morbidity and length of stay were similar to initial surgery.

The role of cervical mediastinoscopy in Nigerian thoracic surgical practice

open access: yesThe Pan African Medical Journal, 2016
INTRODUCTION: cervical mediastinoscopy is the gold standard for obtaining histological diagnosis of mediastinal pathology. It has been used for the staging of lung cancer as well as to determine the cause of Isolated Mediastinal Lymphadenopathy. There is
