MEDIATION VS. MEDIATOR

open access: yesAgora International Journal of Juridical Sciences, 2013
The title of this paper was suggested by the confusion existing even among certainmediators about what mediation is and what it represents actually. Is mediation “a different type of justice” or, otherwise, it is “an alternative totraditional justice”?

On the Power of Mediators

open access: yes, 2009
We consider a problem at the intersection of distributed computing and game theory, namely: Is it; possible to achieve the "windfall of malice" even without the actual presence of malicious players'? Our answer to this question is "Yes and No". Our positive result is that for the virus inoculation game, it is possible to achieve the windfall of malice ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

A Mediator’s Reflection on Family Mediation in a Recession [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mediation & Applied Conflict Analysis, 2014
This article focusses on the personal reflections of an experienced family mediator. It looks at how, in 2014, the changed economic environment has impacted on the practice of family mediation, in particular the impact on areas such as option development. The challenge is for clients even where there is agreement between them to find workable solutions
