Copper and Iron‐Based Metal‐Organic Frameworks for Synergistic Cancer Phototherapies: Recent Advances, Challenges, and Future Prospects

open access: yesAdvanced Therapeutics, EarlyView.
The graphical abstract illustrates the combined effect of PTT and PDT using metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) in a cancer treatment model. Tumor‐bearing mice are irradiated with different laser lights, which activate the MOF nanoparticles within cancer cells. The MOFs produce reactive oxygen species through PDT, while PTT elevates the temperature to kill

Homeostasis of Gut Microbiota Protects against Susceptibility to Fungal Pneumonia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Fungal pneumonia induces inflammation, shown by heightened IL‐6, IL‐1β, TNF‐α levels and a growth in Staphylococcus in the alveolar flora. The gut microbiota, acting through the gut‐lung axis via blood, impacts fungal pneumonia susceptibility by altering lung metabolism and inflammatory responses.

Physiological pH Transition‐Driven Protein Corona Dynamics Regulate Cellular Uptake and Inflammatory Responses of Silica Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Physiological pH transitions modulate protein corona dynamics on nanoparticles, altering their cellular uptake and inflammatory responses. Acidic pHs enhance protein adsorption, induce structural changes, and promote cellular uptake. Simultaneously, inflammatory responses are reduced due to altered protein composition, including decreased ...

RAB5A Promotes Active Fluid Wetting by Reprogramming Breast Cancer Spheroid Mechanics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
RAB5A‐mediated unjamming enhances active wetting through distinct biomechanical processes: a) upregulation of specific integrin subunits, enhanced focal adhesions kinetics and activity; b) supracellular organization relying on nanoscale integrin clustering, and the formation of a stiff and collective actin cable; and c) softening of the spheroid core ...
