Biomachines for Medical Diagnosis
Advanced Materials Letters, 2020Current evolutions in medical practices induce a change of paradigm with the convergence of diagnosis and therapy, going to precision medicine and “theranostics”. One can observe the new role of biomarkers in biomedical and therapeutic applications, for instance in the development of molecular multiplex biosensors (nucleic acid, proteins, and ...

Ontology and medical diagnosis
Informatics for Health and Social Care, 2011Ontology and associated generic tools are appropriate for knowledge modeling and reasoning, but most of the time, disease definitions in existing description logic (DL) ontology are not sufficient to classify patient's characteristics under a particular disease because they do not formalize operational definitions of diseases (association of signs and ...

The great variety of ills that man is heir to and the tremendous number of symptoms associated with such diseases make the task of medical diagnosis more speculative than scientific. There is an expanding interest in the possibilities of using computers to help make medical diagnoses more quickly and accurately, but here again, the vastness of the task

Microcomputers in medical diagnosis
Proceedings of the ACM 1980 annual conference on - ACM 80, 1980A program for performing differential diagnosis on a microcomputer has been developed, utilizing a pattern recognition algorithm. The present configuration allows for input of 15 symptoms of 3 values (present, absent, or unknown), and compares the patient's symptom profile with 50 patterns which point to as many as 10 disease designations.

The Logic of Medical Diagnosis
Perspectives in Biology and Medicine, 2013Establishing diagnoses is a crucial aspect of medical practice. However, this process has received comparatively little logical and pedagogical attention when compared to statistical methods for evaluating evidence. This article investigates the logic of medical diagnosis in order to fill this void. It is organized in three parts: the first attempts to

Medical Malpractice in Diagnosis
New England Journal of Medicine, 1969IT is commonly said that physicians cannot be held liable for "mere errors in professional judgment." This is taken to mean that there is no liability for an erroneous diagnosis.

Methods of Information in Medicine, 1978
The present bibliography aims at informing and stimulating researchers when studying the multiple facets of medical diagnosis. The complexity of investigation in this domain can be judged by the fact that papers dealing with medical diagnosis do not appear in medical journals only.

Genetic Programming in Medical Diagnosis
2003The paper describes the results obtained for differential diagnostics of substantially complex disorders in the acid-base status. Since the first attempts of applying the genetic programming to this problem, presented by the authors at MIE 2000, proved promising, the investigation has been continued.
