Ultrasonics in medical diagnosis

Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series A, Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1979
Beginning with the wave equation, the characteristics of ultrasound are described in terms of propagation, reflexion, beam formation, scattering and attenuation. In medical diagnosis, ultrasound in the low megahertz frequency range is both generated and detected by piezoelectric transducers. At these frequencies the wavelength is in the order of 1 m m ;

Cybernetics and Medical Diagnosis

Soviet Review, 1961
This article (Izvestia, November 14, 1960) provides additional information on Soviet applications of cybernetics in medicine, treated briefly in an earlier issue of The Soviet Review (see article by S. Iarmoliuk in December 1960 issue).

Exchangeability and medical diagnosis

Communications in Statistics - Theory and Methods, 1984
A stepwise search procedure is proposed for the selection of binary variables for discriminant analysis and differential diagnosis. The discriminant procedure described exploits the dependencies among the variables. Bayes estimates of the probability of correct diagnosis based on exchangeable priors are derived.

Radioisotope Scanning in Medical Diagnosis

Annual Review of Medicine, 1963
An extensive review is presented and 99 references cited relating to clinical radioisotope scanning for the detection of tumors and mapping of internal organs by determining the spatial distribution of gamma -ray- or positron-emitting radioactive nuclides localized in or surrounding the object under study.

Steroid analysis for medical diagnosis

Journal of Chromatography A, 2001
Steroid assays are important for medical diagnosis of diseases related to steroid disturbances and abuse. This article reviews the recent progress in analytical methods for steroids in the clinical laboratory. The requirements for these methods are rapid, highly sensitive, specific, direct assay of conjugated steroids, the simultaneous analysis ...
